Nine IELTS Listening Tips,

To provide you with essential strategies to secure desired score in IELTS listening.

1. Spelling your answers correctly

Your answer will be marked incorrect if you spell any words wrongly, for example writing STUENT in place of STUDENT.

2. You must use the exact words as presented in rocording

The correct answer will always be exactly the same as that spoken on the recording. Using synonyms or adding a conjunction will make your answer incorrect.

3. Look for WORD/NUMBER LIMIT GIVEN in the question— Its generally highlighted in RED

If you go over the word limit given on your question paper, your answer will be marked as wrong.

4.  Word limit is always put as UP TO AND INCLUDING

If the given limit is 3 words you can use one word, two words or even three.

6. THE ANSWERS ARE ALWAYS IN THE ORDER OF THE RECORDING

The questions are always in the same order as the recording, however, for multiple choice the answer options are not necessarily in the same order.

7. USE THE GUIDE WORDS IN THE RECORDING

There will be certain KEY WORDS in the question paper which can help you identify when the narrator is about to answer that question, This is especially helpful in section 4 of listening test.

8. MOVE ON IF YOU MISS AN ANSWER

If you miss an answer do not worry about it, move along with the narrator, chances are low that you will be able to recollect what the narrator has already said and possibility is high you may end up missing the audio for next few questions.

9. Before you submit Go Back and make most appropriate guess if you have missed to mark an answer.

There is no negative marking, so attempting all questions can add to your score.
